Maserati GranTurismo MC
Apart from its own, one-make Trofeo
World Series, in 2016 Maserati will go head to head with rivals on the track,
competing with the GranTurismo MC in the international GT4 series.
This also marks Maserati's official
return to the GT4 category after their initial stint back in 2009 at the
European GT4 championship. The series is run by private teams and we're
expecting over 20 cars across 10 different teams to participate.
The only modifications allowed by FIA in
the GT4 class, apart from the obligatory safety equipment, are on aerodynamics;
all other areas remain unchanged. The GranTurismo MC will receive an air
restrictor which will reduce its power output to 430 BHP from its current 488
BHP, while a new rear spoiler and diffuser will bring the performance in line
with that of their rivals. Moreover, the Italian manufacturer will
also be racing in the US Pirelli World Challenge.

Marketing Motorsport manager for Maserati, "The Pirelli World Challenge,
and the new European GT4 series, is an excellent opportunity for Maserati and
all those teams and clients who want to race with a marque steeped in character
and history. The budget is accessible and the series highly competitive and
professional."
The GranTurismo MC's final set up will
take place during the official Balance of Performance (BoP) tests, where GT4
SRO homologation standards will also be completed.
Maserati will provide technical support
and replacement parts for the private teams competing in these races, backed up
by more than six years of experience in the Trofeo Championship.
