VW Polo GTI 3-door
Autocar India reports that the VW Polo
GTI will launch in India during September 2016, and sold as a 3-door hatchback.
The Polo GTI 3-door is likely to be a CBU model priced above INR 20 lakh. Ahead
of its launch, VW India will showcase the Polo GTI at Auto Expo 2016 to gauge
interest.
VW India is confident that the Polo GTI
3-door will spawn a new segment in the country that targets driving
enthusiasts.
The Polo GTI in other markets is powered
by a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder TSI from the VW Group’s EA888 engine family,
which generates 187 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. It is offered with a choice
between a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic unit.
Compared to the regular Polo, the GTI
grade comes with LED headlights with DRLs, honeycomb grille with GTI badging, sportier
front bumper with bigger air intake, red brake calipers, dark red taillight
cluster, side skirts, diffuser, rear spoiler and exposed twin exhaust tips. The
interior features sport seats with part tartan upholstery, new steering wheel,
contrast red stitching and aluminium pedals.
