2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro
1LE was unveiled in just two days time at the Chicago Auto Show. Autonews
says that the new Camaro 1LE will debut alongside refreshed Trax, Colorado and
Silverado models and promises to bring with it a host of performance
improvements over the already-impressive sixth-gen Camaro SS.
The 1LE is likely to be powered by the
same naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine as the SS but could produce
slightly in excess of the existing model's 455 hp. Alongside some engine
tweaks, it'll have a revised suspension system and potentially, beefed-up
brakes to make it even more suitable for use at the racetrack.
When launched, the new 1LE will top out
the sixth-generation Camaro range, but only briefly. A new ZL1 is already in
the works and has been spied testing at the Nurburgring Nordschleife on
multiple occasions.
Additionally, a new Z/28 is likely to
arrive sometime in the coming years, but for enthusiasts too impatient to wait
that long, the new 1LE could prove the ideal compromise between performance and
price.
