Peugeot 208 BlueHDi
Peugeot UK announced the availability of
the cleanest version of their 208 supermini, the 75 hp BlueHDi diesel S&S
which returns just 79 g/km of CO2 emissions.
This figure makes the Peugeot 208 the
best-performing non-hybrid model on the market. In a world where emissions
standards are under severe pressure, Peugeot offers the 208 with their
cleanest-yet version of the 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel engine which produces
75 hp, allowing the French supermini to return a combined 94.2 mpg UK of fuel
consumption.
Peugeot also offers the same engine with
100 hp and 120 hp power outputs, with the latter mated to a six-speed gearbox
-instead of the standard five-speed unit. Every diesel version of the updated
208 is now below 95 g/km of CO2 emissions.
This became possible thanks to Peugeot’s
Selective Catalytic Reduction technology combined with an additive filter, with
the company showcasing the extreme fuel economy of their supermini in May 2015,
when a strictly standard production 208 equipped with a 100 hp 1.6-litre BlueHDi
S&S diesel engine and a five-speed manual gearbox covered 2,152 km burning just 43 litres of diesel, averaging an impressive 141.2 mpg (2.0 lt/100 km).
The new Peugeot 208 79 g/km model is
offered in two trim levels and is priced from £ 14,995 for the Active and £ 16,195
for the Allure version.
