2017 MINI Convertible JCW
MINI is celebrating the launch of the
2017 Convertible JCW. With a starting
price of US$ 35,600 in the United States and £ 26,630 (US$ 38,900) in the
United Kingdom, MINI's second model of the new generation car to get the John
Cooper Works (JCW) treatment after the hatch, uses the same goods as its solid
roof sibling, including the 2.0-liter turbo four-pot, producing 231 PS and 320 Nm of torque.
This means that it's 20 PS and
60 Nm more powerful over the version it replaces, while being 135 kg heavier. Sprinting from naught to 100 km/h takes 6.6 seconds
when equipped with the manual transmission, while the optional 6-speed
automatic version needs 6.5 seconds. Top speed stands at 241 km/h for
the former and 240 km/h for the latter.
Some of the standard features found on
the new drop-top include air-conditioning, Radio MINI Boost, AUX, USB, Park
Distance Control, along with the 17-inch JCW wheels, Brembo sports brake system
and Servotronic steering support.
The car can also be equipped with
optional HUD, Driving Assistant, Parking Assistan, rear view camera, 2-zone
automatic air-con with convertible mode, wind deflector, lights and rain
sensor, navigation, 18-inch wheels, side mirror caps in Chili Red, JCW bonnet
stripes and exterior/interior components from the JCW Pro design line.
Setting it apart from the standard MINI
Convertible are the large cooling air outlets in the front apron, bespoke side
sills, a rear apron, LED lights on both ends, JCW logos and special wheel
patterns. Its fully automatic electric soft top can be opened and closed at
speeds of up to 30 km/h in 18 seconds, while the sliding roof function
is available at any road speed.
