CSC RC3
The made-in-China CSC RC3
has been announced for the US market, and company management also says they
plan to bring the bike to Canada as well.
The California Scooter
Company might have established their business with Chinese-built clones of the
original Mustang scooters that were popular after World War II, but in recent
years they’ve turned their business plan towards full-sized motorcycles. They
already import the RX3 Cyclone, a Zongshen-manufactured 250 cc adventure bike
(available in Canada) and the TT250 dual sport (not available in Canada yet).
Now, they’re adding a
sportbike to their lineup. The RC3 is powered by a liquid-cooled, four-valve
250 cc engine, with EFI. It’s CARB-compliant, which means it should be legal
for sale in all 50 states. CSC bigwig Joe Berk also informs us they plan to
bring the bike to Canada.
The motor is mated to a
six-speed transmission, and puts out 24.8 horsepower. It rolls on 17-inch cast
wheels, and radial tires. The RC3 also includes ABS.
Both front and rear
suspension are adjustable, although we don’t know what level of adjustability
is built in. The digital dash includes a tach, speedometer, odometer, trip meter,
clock, fuel gauge, gear indicator, and temp gauge, and a changeable red or blue
background.
Introductory pricing for the
CSC RC3 is US$ 2,895. That price will rise in the future to US$ 3,495, as CSC
usually offers a low MSRP for the initial buyers. That gives us an idea of
Canadian pricing, as with the RX3, CSC offered the same bike to Canadian buyers
at the same cost as US purchasers, simply converting the USD to CAD funds.
That’s a bit rough when the Canadian dollar is in the toilet as it is these days,
but that might not be the case forever.
CSC will sell the RC3 direct to consumers, with no dealerships involved. The
buyers will get a comprehensive owners manual for free, and will be responsible
for arranging their own maintenance and repairs. The bikes will carry a
two-year unlimited mileage warranty.
