Mini Citysurfer Concept
The Los Angeles Auto Show opened its
doors last Friday in the eponymous Californian city. Present with its latest
car models, the BMW Group has taken advantage of the show to unveil its Mini
Citysurfer Concept. The vehicle takes the form of a compact electric scooter,
light and pliable whose lines are inspired by the aesthetics of the British
brand Mini.
The design of lightweight electric
vehicle has mobilized all the innovation capacity of the BMW engineers, the
problem was: how to provide additional non-polluting mobility adapted to the
constraints of large cities? The concept Mini Citysurfer is their response to
congestion, lack of parking and more generally to the increasing urbanization
of populations.
Like Peugeot and HYmotion-kick, the
German manufacturer has designed his electric scooter as the ideal companion to
his cars, especially the new Mini 3 doors. This did not stop to mention other
uses: multi-modal journeys by train, bus or subway, traveling in the workforce
and schoolchildren, tour, travel by motorhome, caravan or boat.
Suffice to say that his scooter comes
into direct competition with models Egret, Go-Board or Scorp'it, some have
adopted several years ago. To be differentiated, Mini has particularly neat
implementation: large wheels shod with inflatable tires, low-floor,
height-adjustable handlebar, hydraulic disc brakes front and rear brake lever
on the handlebars.
Side operation, the Mini Concept
Citysurfer approximates Oxelo Klick and e-Micro One offering an "electric
assistance" in skating. We must therefore push with your foot to activate
the brushless motor housed in the hub of the rear wheel, which then powers the
vehicle up to 25 km/h. Thanks to the lithium-ion battery and the recovery of
braking energy, max autonomy reaches 25 km.
Do not forget to mention accessories
such as mudguards, lights or smartphone with support for charging socket, which
is a definite plus in accreditation. Thus equipped, the concept Mini Citysurfer
however shows some overweight since it weighs 18 kg.
