2017 Ford EcoSport (Brazil)
Ford has launched the 2017 Ford EcoSport
in Brazil. This EcoSport isn’t the facelifted model; the MY2017 is just a minor
yearly update for the compact crossover.
With this update, the model range has
been reduced to three grades (from four previously), and several equipment
additions have been made to increase the value.
With more than 1 million units produced
in Brazil (since the first generation launched in 2003), the 2017 EcoSport is
available in SE and FreeStyle versions with 1.6-liter Flex (manual or automatic
transmission Powershift dual-clutch), and the Titanium Powershift and 4WD
(six-speed manual), both with the 2.0 Flex engine.
For a starting price of R$ 68,490, the
EcoSport comes standard with electric door mirrors with integrated turn
signals, fog lights, alloy wheels with 15″ rims, electronic stability control
and traction control, starting assistant on ramps, on-board computer,
multimedia system SYNC with voice commands for audio, telephone, and AppLink
for access to applications and emergency assistance.
Meanwhile the facelifted Ford EcoSport
is expected to debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show that will open on November
8. Brazil should the first market to receive the facelifted EcoSport, with
reports speculating an early-2017 market launch. Spy shots have revealed that
Ford is planning some major exterior and interior changes for the facelifted
model.
Even with the facelift, the Ford
EcoSport will likely continue with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol, 1.5-litre
Ti-VCT petrol and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engines and the 5-speed manual and
6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmissions in India. In Brazil,
reports say that Ford will introduce a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder naturally
aspirated engine from the Dragon engine family.
The facelifted EcoSport is expected to
be launched in India a few months after Brazil, in H1 2017.
