Audi SQ2
Despite the new Q2 will going on sale
before fall, the SUV boom has had Audi officials looking into the possibility of
adding a hotter version.
An "S" variant is, by the
company's own admission, feasible and is very likely to be launched at some
point in the near future.
The 2.0-liter turbo four of the
facelifted S3 is rated at 310 HP, which is more than enough for the baby
crossover.
Nevertheless, there is talk about an
even hotter variant of the Q2, which will carry the RS logo. This isn’t the
first time when such a model is brought into discussion, instead of the S3's
engine, as previously reported, it could use the 2.5-liter five-cylinder of the
RS3.
If everything goes as planned and the
two beefed-up versions of the Q2 will get the thumbs up for production, then
expect the SQ2 to debut around 2018, eventually followed by the more powerful
RS Q2.
