BMW R nineT Lac Rose concept
BMW recently unveiled the R nineT Lac Rose
concept at the Wheels & Waves custom culture festival in France. A modern
interpretation of previous generation endurance rally motorcycles, the Lac Rose
concept pays homage to the 101 competition number BMW GS that won the
Paris-Dakar rally in 1985.
The Lac Rose concept replicates the vibe
of the old-school rally motorcycles, packaged in modern underpinnings.
The concept has been named after the
rose-coloured Lake Retba in Senegal, which used to mark the end of the rally.
While the underpinnings have been
carried over, the Lac Rose concept gets a host of GS-inspired styling
revisions.
The windshield, headlamp, raised
mudguard and short seat all hark back to the rugged Dakar racers of
yesteryears.
The suspension travel has been
significantly raised, and the motorcycle now rides on spoke wheels and button
tyres.
Powering the Lac Rose concept is the
same 1170 cc air-cooled boxer engine, delivering 110 bhp and 119 Nm of torque.
However, BMW acknowledges that the Lac
Rose concept is more of a laid back roadster than a hardcore off-road
motorcycle.
We expect the Lac Rose concept to
materialise into a production model, as a part of BMW’s upcoming Heritage range
of modern classics.
