VW Golf R by O.CT
The Volkswagen Golf might be one of the
most unassuming model in its class, but its potent engines and humble style are
a tuning magnet. Even in the R variant.
The Golf’s restrained character makes it
the ultimate sleeper, and the MK VII R is the prime example. With 300 PS and
380 Nm developed from its 2.0-litre engine, the model in anything but slow;
although O.CT Tuning reckons that Volkswagen’s small family car could have a
bit more oomph.
That’s how a 450 PS and 550 Nm Golf came to be. But this vast amount of grunt
may appear overwhelming to some, that’s why the German aftermarket firm is also
offering four different stages of tune for the all-wheel-drive car, ranging
from 370 PS and 460 Nm, all the way to the full fat figure
mentioned above.
Furthermore, in order to ease its
customers with the power surge, O.CT offers to install the different performance
levels gradually until the maximum power is achieved, keeping a balanced budget in the process.
Oh, and the same applies for Seat Leon
Cupra owners, or other VAG products powered by the same 2.0-litre engine.
Although official power figures weren’t
provided, we can only imagine what a Golf with 450 PS can do, as the
stock R can already go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, all the way
to a maximum (and limited) top speed of 250 km/h.
