2017 Hyundai i30 N Hot-Hatch

The Korean company is getting ready for the reveal of the third generation i30 hatchback with our spies bringing you the first photos of the hotter N version.

Set to compete with cars like the VW Golf GTI, the upcoming Hyundai i30 N will be powered by the company’s new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine offering around 260 hp.

Hyundai’s first N hot hatch will become available in two versions: the standard N model and the performance pack version. The bodywork will feature a sportier bodykit with bigger air intakes at the front bumper, a roof spoiler and twin exhaust pipes. A set of larger wheels and bigger brakes will be also present.

Under the skin and apart from the new engine, the new i30 N will come packed with various performance bits, including a faster and more precise gearshift, stiffer engine and transmission mounts, a more feelsome and direct steering wheel and a modified suspension, complete with a new front axle knuckle for a pointier front end.

Albert Biermann, head of the new Hyundai N sub-brand and former BMW M Chief Engineer, has already said that the new car will not be the most powerful in its class, but it will be the most fun-to-drive.

Earlier reports suggested that Hyundai will go for a friendly and compliant setup for their first N product in order to achieve their goal. Oh, and it will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox, with a double-clutch automatic version to be available in the near future.
