Ford New 2.0L Diesel Line-up

The Ford Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy now come with slightly more frugal 2-litre TDCi diesel engines. Ford’s engineers were able to fine-tune the 2.0-litre TDCi engine’s software on all three models when equipped with the six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission, also delivering an up to 7 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions.

The updated 2.0-litre TDCi also features an optimized engine block, cylinder head and fuel injection as well as a lean NOX trap exhaust after-treatment system for lower emissions.

Theses revisions are for both 148 hp and 177 hp versions of the aforementioned engine while Ford took the opportunity to also offer the latest SYNC 3 infotainment system in the Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy and Mustang.

“A combination of powerful turbocharged performance, great fuel efficiency and an effortless driving experience has made our 2.0-litre TDCi PowerShift powertrain popular with customers who now benefit from even lower running costs,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president of Marketing, Ford of Europe. “With SYNC 3 drivers can seamlessly integrate their smartphones into the car to make calls, reply to text messages and safely use their favorite apps on the move using simple voice commands.”

Fuel consumption for the updated Ford Mondeo 2.0-litre TDCi with the PowerShift gearbox is rated from a combined 4.6 lt/100km (61.4 mpg UK), while CO2 emissions are down by 5g/km for a total of 120 g/km.

Similarly the corresponding S-Max model returns a combined 5.0 lt/100km (56.5 mpg UK) and 129 g/km of CO2 emissions with the Galaxy scoring a 5.2 lt/100km (54.3 mpg UK) and 134 g/km in the same areas.
