McLaren 650S GT3
Call us nostalgic, but some of us just
go weak in the knees when we see a throwback livery, whether it's on a Mazda
prototype or a Skoda rally car. Now McLaren is preparing to run a tribute
livery of its own at the upcoming 24 Hours of Spa.
While two of the cars run by the Garage
59 team will sport their usual color scheme, the third 650S GT3 bearing the
number 60 will feature the heritage livery you see here. It's based on the
emblem once run by the original Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team, complete with
the Speedy Kiwi icon on the roof.
The logo featured on McLaren racing cars
from 1962 through 1966 – including the '64 McLaren M1A that was the first of
Bruce's cars to land on the podium upon its debut at Mosport in Canada.
Bruno Senna will share driving duties
with Brazilian driver Pipo Derano and the UK's Duncan Tappy. Garage 59 is
currently in the lead for both the team and driver's championships in the
Blancpain Endurance Series.
