2017 VW Polo R WRC
Judging by how dominant
Volkswagen was last year, the German automaker obviously knows how to put
together a winning rally team, and the Polo R WRC has been the cornerstone in
its FIA's World Rally Championship success. Now the Polo R WRC is set to get
better for the 2017 season.
The changes for 2017 might
not seem like much, but the 2-inch wider stance, 55 pound diet and 60 hp bump
from a 1.42-inch restrictor should make the devastatingly fast Polo R WRC
faster. Total output hovers around 380 hp.
A bigger wing and an
electronic center differential should work together to help keep the
rally-ready Polo planted in corners and send power where grip is available.
These changes, of course, are dictated by the rules set by the FIA.
There won’t be a midyear
swap for the VW team, and we’ll have to wait until the 2017 Rally Monte Carlo
next January to see this thing in action. However, with a VW clinching top
honors at every event so far in the 2016 season, it doesn't seem like the Polo
needs to get any better to win.
