BMW X6 M50d by G-Power
The BMW X6 M50d might not be
a true blue-blooded Motorsport model, but G-Power is willing to fix all that.
With a 3.0-litre,
tri-turbocharged, six-cylinder diesel pumping out 389 PS and 740 Nm of torque under its belt, the X6 M50d can be called anything but
under-powered. Even so, compared to its bigger, angrier sibling – the full-fat
X6 M – it doesn’t appear to be an extraordinary potent vehicle.
But if anybody really wants,
for some reason, a more powerful diesel, luxury, four-door-coupe crossover,
then G-Power is will offer them a 455 PS variant, with 870 Nm of torque.
The impressive power upgrade
was achieved using a power module – called the Bi-Tronik 5 V1 – which was
placed between the factory ECU and the engine. What makes this solution very
interesting, is that it remains inactive under partial load, but stick “the
pedal to the metal” and it instantly triggers the unique fueling and boost
mapping for that additional 74 PS and 130 Nm of torque.
But that’s not all, because
the German tuner also offers the D-Tronik 2 V1 upgrade – a bespoke remapping of
the factory ECU, customized after each customer’s needs regarding the throttle
response and power delivery.
Also optional is the serial
top speed restriction removal – which G-Power says it’s possible, without
getting into further details. Naturally, a set of 11.0x23-inch “Jet Black”,
“Gun Metal Grey”, “Stardust Silver” or “Diamond Cut” HURRICANE RR forged wheels
are in order – to subtly signal the grunt under the hood.
