Hyundai i20 (Indonesia)
PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia has launched the
i20 hatchback manufactured at the South Korean brand’s Chennai plant at
the 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. It has been brought into
the highly potential Indonesian scenes through CBU channel. Hyundai will be
positioning the latest generation i20 between Grand i10 and Grand Avega
hatchback.
Competing against the Suzuki Baleno,
also launched at the motoring exhibition, Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris, the
Hyundai Indonesia’s dealerships have already started receiving bookings for the
i20 but the exact pricing details have not been released yet. Some rumours
suggest that deliveries will be commencing by the end of this month.
According to a report it could be priced
at 249 million rupiah for the manual gearbox equipped variant while the top-end
automatic version is more likely to be offered at 263 million rupiah. For the
Indonesian market, the new i20 sources power from a 1.4L Gamma VVT Kappa four
cylinder petrol motor taken from the Grand Avega.
It is tuned to produce a maximum power
output of 100 PS and 133 Nm of peak torque. The two transmission options made
available are a standard six-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.
The Indonesian-spec Hyundai i20 features driver and co-passenger airbag and
Anti-lock brakes standard across all variants for improved safety quotient.
The other significant equipment are
seven-inch AVN touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth telephony, automatic
climate control, engine start/stop button, reverse parking sensors, tilt and
telescopic steering, etc. Hyundai India is likely gearing up to launch an AT
version of the successfully running i20 during the approaching festive season.
