Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster
After being confirmed in Mercedes'
future product plan, the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster has been spied testing
under heavy camouflage.
When the AMG GT was initially launched,
some suggested that a convertible variation wouldn't be offered as it could
steal buyers away from the SL range. AMG clearly isn't concerned by this and
believes that the lighter, faster and more sporty GT C Roadster will be able to
carve out its own place in Merc's range, taking the fight to the convertible
Audi R8 and Porsche 911 Turbo models.
As evidenced by these spy shots, the GT
C Roadster will sport a folding soft top and accordingly, the roofline will be
somewhat altered from the coupe derivative. Even still, the model should be a
real head turner.
One question surrounding the model
concerns its name, more specially the letter 'C'. There's a possibility that
the car will sit between the 'regular' AMG GT and the GT S in terms of power
while offering a more comfortable, luxurious and plush ride.
Whatever the name means, it's assured
that the convertible AMG GT C will be powered by the firm's potent
twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering between 456 hp and 503 hp.
Reports suggest the car will be revealed
later this year before deliveries commence in early 2017.
