Tesla Model S facelift
Tesla has given a minor facelift to the Tesla Model S.
Up front, the Tesla Model S
has got a face similar to the Tesla Model X now. New nose, new headlights and a
full body colour bumper round up the changes at the front. At the sides, the
rocker panels are now body-coloured. Moving to the rear, darker areas in the
taillamps differentiate the taillights from the side marker and the sides of
the bumper are now body-coloured. Inside, the Tesla Model S now features the
Tesla Model X’s Bioweapon Defense Mode HEPA air filtration system. Two new trim
choices are available: Dark Ash Wood Décor and Figured Ash Wood Decor.
The capacity of the onboard
charger has been updated from 40 amps previously to 48 amps. Four models are
available: 70, 70D, 90D and P 90D. The Model S 70 is the only RWD model
available, featuring a 70 kWh battery that provides driving range of 376 km, 0-97 km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed
of 225 km/h. When specified with an all-wheel drive system, this
model’s name changes to Model S 70D, and the driving range increases to 386 km while the 0-97 km/h acceleration time reduces to 5.2 seconds.
The Model S 90D has a 90 kWh
battery that provides a driving range of 473 km, 0-97 km/h
acceleration time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The
Model S P 90D also has a 90 kWh battery, but it can reach from 0-97 km/h in just
3.1 seconds, or even quicker, in only 2.8 seconds, if the Ludicrous Speed
Upgrade is opted for an additional US$ 10,000. The top speed remains unchanged,
while the driving range reduces to 434 km.
