2017 VW Golf R Wagon (spyshot)
This is the restyled VW
Golf R Wagon and we can already spot one or two new possible differences
between this car and the old Golf R.
For starters, while still heavily camouflaged, the
front bumper no longer features those dark patches of vinyl, which means we can
better observe the new design of the lower front fascia. Another change
compared to the first time we saw the facelifted R Wagon testing is the fact
that there is camouflage at the back now.
This could mean that this prototype is testing a new
rear bumper, though we won't be able to know for sure until VW pulls the wraps
off the car entirely, or until we get our hands on a leaked image.
Inside, it's likely to feature a couple of
small upgrades, ranging from new materials, a larger touchscreen and better
connectivity features that are making their way into most, if not all new or
restyled modern-day vehicles.
Under the hood you'll find the same 300 PS 2.0-liter
TSI unit that currently sends the Golf R Wagon from a stand still to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, though a little more power and torque isn't completely
out of the question just yet.
Unfortunately, we still don't know when VW's Golf R
Wagon will be hitting the streets. Once it does, it will face limited
competition as only SEAT's Leon Cupra ST comes close to it in terms of power,
as far as its direct rivals are concerned.
