BMW R nineT Pure
Joining the R nineT family aongisde the
Racer is this, the base model in the line-up, dubbed the ‘Pure’. It’s the most similar in style to the original R nineT
Roadster, but engineered to survive without all the costly elements, making
this a dream option for customisers and those operating on a tight budget. As
with the rest of the sub-Roadster nineT family, it gets a non-adjustable
conventional telescopic fork, lower-spec monoshock on the Paralever swingarm, a
steel 17-litre fuel tank, and fewer electronic aids as standard.
The Pure also doubles as
the ideal budget naked roadster for those tired of endless, complicated spec
lists. If you want a pure air/oil-cooled Boxer experience in the most
traditional of style incarnations – this is for you. And if you want to rip it
to pieces and build your own vision of perfection, this is also for you, as you
won’t be discarding or butchering high-end cycle parts in your pursuit.
There’s no word on price, but insiders have
suggested it will arrive at circa £ 9000. It may be simplistic, but it’s not
devoid of style or nice touches. Details such as the footrests and fork bridges
are forged aluminium with a clear anodised finish, the brushed stainless steel
exhaust with black end cap is neat and fuss-free, and the Pure loses none of
the detail around fender braces, seat stays or that lovely big headlamp.
Class and style have not been abandoned for the
price tag. While the Racer gets a pair of clocks, the Pure shares the same
single central unit with the Scrambler, blending an analogue display with
integrated indicator lamps and an LCD panel for all trip meters and other
information.
The fuel tank and front mudguard are finished in
non-metallic Catalano Grey, which is the only colour option offered, while
numerous aluminium surfaces create fascinating contrasts and enhance the
classic styling cues. Like the rest of the nineT range – Racer excepted – the
modular frame is all black, as are the wheels, while the Pure also has
provision for a pillion.
The list of official options is huge, enabling this
blank canvas to become whatever you want it to be, without even straying from
your BMW dealer’s parts counter – or you can leave it as it is, and enjoy its
purity.
