Mahindra Scorpio 1.99L Intelli-Hybrid
Mahindra announced that the Intelli Hybrid
system is now available in the Mahindra Scorpio 1.99L, which is sold
exclusively in Delhi NCR. They haven’t revealed updated prices, but confirmed
that it starts at INR 9.35 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
So far the Intelli-Hybrid system was exclusive to
the Scorpio 2.2L sold nation-wide. It replaces Mahindra’s Micro-hybrid features
(start-stop motor), and is fitted as standard in all grades equipped with the
mHawk engine and 5-speed manual gearbox (S4, S4+, S4+ 4WD, S6+, S8, S10-2WD and
S10-4WD). The base S2 grade with the 2.5L m2DICR engine and Scorpio Automatic aren’t equipped
with Intelli-Hybrid.
Intelli-Hybrid comprises of auto start-stop, brake
energy recuperation, a larger capacity battery and a starter motor which
functions as both an alternator and a motor that provides a mild electrical
boost in certain driving conditions. It is claimed to reduce fuel consumption
by up to 7 percent.
Another advantage brought by the mild hybrid system
is the tax incentive offered by the NEMMP (National Electric Mobility Mission
Plan). This helped lower the pricing of the base Scorpio 1.99L by around INR
64,000.
