Volvo S60 T6
Drive-E
Volvo
Malaysia was officially introduced the new Volvo S60 T6, which now adopts the
company’s in-house-developed Drive-E petrol engine. The new mill replaces the
previous pair of Ford-related GTDi motors (T4 and T5) for the S60 in Malaysia.
The T6 Drive-E is a 2.0 litre
four-cylinder petrol engine that benefits from turbocharging and supercharging
(at low revs). As a result, the engine outputs 306 hp at 5,700 rpm, and 400 Nm
at 2,100 to 4,800 rpm. Mighty numbers indeed.
An
Aisin-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission handles power delivery to the
front wheels here, complete with steering-mounted paddle shifters.
Performance-wise, you’re looking at a 0-100 km/h time of just 5.9 seconds, and
a top speed of 230 km/h.
The
car looks nearly identical to the S60 facelift that made its local debut in
March 2015, inside and out. This new variant sports 17-inch ‘Sadia’ alloy
wheels, wrapped with 235/45R17 tyres. The black car seen here is fitted with
optional 18-inch ‘Ixion’ wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, and
R-Design rear diffuser with hexagonal pipes.
Safety
concerns is well catered to with City Safety autonomous braking system (works
at speeds up to 50 km/h,) radar-operated Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)
with Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) and Collision Warning with Full Auto Braking.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Aid (LKA), Pedestrian Detection and
Cyclist Detection, as well as Road Sign Information (RSI) are also fitted.
The latest
Volvo addition meanwhile, is priced at RM 280,888. The price is on-the-road
without insurance, inclusive of a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty,and
five years’ free Volvo On Call roadside assist.
