VW Polo GTI (India)
According to reports, the VW
Polo GTI will launch in India next month. VW India has not yet
announced a launch date, since showcasing the car at the Auto Expo last
February.
The Polo GTI expected to cost INR 17-20 lakhs (ex-Showroom), and
will slot between budget hot hatches like the Punto Abarth and expensive,
imported performance cars like the Mini Cooper S or Abarth 595 Competizione.
Under the hood is a 1.8L TSI four-cylinder
turbopetrol engine that produces 189 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent to
the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG gearbox with steering-mounted paddle
shifters. It is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, before
hitting a top speed of 236 km/h.
Some of the confirmed features include LED DRLs,
5-spoke alloy wheels with fatter 215/40 tyres, twin chrome-plated exhausts and
a sunroof, three-spoke GTI flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminium pedals,
‘Jacara’ upholstery with red contrast stitching, large touchscreen infotainment
system, cruise control and front armrest.
