VW Transporter BlueMotion (UK)
Volkswagen has just added a new variant to
the Transporter range in the United Kingdom. Carrying a price tag of £ 24,591,
the BlueMotion is now available to order from Volkswagen Van Centers, promising
to add "impressive economy to the multi-award-winning van's already list
of credentials".
Tipping the scales at 2.7 tonnes and
offering a payload of 839 kg, the VW Transporter T6 BlueMotion
carries a 2.0-liter TDI common rail diesel engine. This is rated at 102 PS and 250 Nm of torque, and mated to a five-speed manual gearbox,
in the standard Startline grade.
The Euro 6-compliant mill's fuel efficiency sits at
40.9/58.9/51.4 mpg UK in city/highway/combined (6.9/4.8/5.5 lt/100 km), a seven percent improvement, and the CO2 emissions
are reduced to 145 g/km.
These numbers have been achieved with the addition of
aerodynamically improved wheel spoilers, lowered suspension, low friction
tires, and modified gear ratios, along with the standard stop/start and battery
regeneration systems, and cruise control with speed limiter, which works up to 100 km/h.
