2016 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse (India)
The Indian Chieftain Dark Horse premium cruiser has
been launched in India. The new model replaces shiny
chrome finished elements of the regular Chieftain with satin black finished
ones.
The massive front fairing, the stylish front fender,
wheels, fuel tank, single saddle, pannier boxes and the majestic Thunder Stoke
111 engine are all finished in the dark shade. Only the long slender silencer
is finished in chrome.
The Chieftain Dark Horse is essentially the
Chieftain with Dark Horse treatment. The twin-cylinder motor produces an
impressive 139 Nm of torque. Keeping up with the tradition, the engines power
figure has not been revealed.
The Chieftain is underpinned by a cast aluminium
frame and is suspended by means of front telescopic forks and adjustable single
shock absorber at the rear. Braking is courtesy of 300 mm dual discs upfront
and a 300 single disc at the rear.
The imposing Chieftain Dark Horse has a ground
clearance of 142 mm. The bagger sits on 130/90-B16 70H front and 180/60-R16 80H
rear Dunlop Elite 3 tyres.
The equipment level of the Indian Chieftain Dark
Horse is at par with the regular version. The salient features include
digi-analog instrument console, tyre pressure monitoring system, heated grips,
cruise control, ABS, LED driving lights, highway bar, keyless start, powered
windshield, leather seat, remote locking saddle bags, and a 100 Watt music
system with Bluetooth and earphone connectivity.
