2017 BAC Mono

The UK-based Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) brought their famous single-seater Mono model to this year’s LA Motor Show.

The 2017 BAC Mono comes with a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine that produces 305 bhp and 308 Nm of peak torque which combined with its 580 kg weight figure gives it a staggering power-to-weight ratio of 525 hp per tonne. 0-60 mph comes in 2.8 seconds.

Other updates include a five-stage traction control, an intelligent launch control and an auto upshift function which can be turned off via the multifunction steering wheel. The wheel itself now has a faster-ratio rack, with 1.7 turns from lock to lock while BAC has added an electronic parking brake which further reduces weight off the car.

All 2017 BAC Monos now come with the company’s wider chassis as standard, offering more space for the driver. BAC is now working on establishing its official North American operations, with their HQ set in Sonoma, California and a direct Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) strategy about to be launched.

The British car maker wants to provide technical support, dealer acquisition and technician training, aiming to have between 8 to 10 dedicated dealers across the USA over the next 12 months.
