2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500
Nissan has unveiled GT-R Nismo for Japan’s Super GT racing series, complete with a selection of modifications
over the outgoing model.
In 2017, manufacturers will be forced to cut
downforce by 25 per cent for the series. Nissan has dulled
down some of the crazy aerodynamic elements which GT500 cars have become
synonymous for. The car is still adorned in a multitude
of aero aids not found on the street car, including a massive rear wing, flared
wheel arches, an ankle-breaking front splitter and four new canards up front.
Nissan says that to offset the reduced downforce, it
has bumped up power output but hasn’t yet revealed just how much power the 2017
GT-R Nismo GT500 pumps out. It has been confirmed that next season’s
racer adopts a lower center of gravity than the outgoing model which also
having improved weight distribution.
Nissan took the GT500 championship crown in 2014 and
2015 and hopes to do the same in 2017.
