2018 Jeep
Wrangler (spy shot)
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler have surfaced online, courtesy of Autoblog. The test
mule is completely covered up and cleverly hides key details of the next gen
model’s exterior styling.
It appears that the next gen Wrangler will adopt a slightly more
aerodynamic design, as seen in the raked windscreen. It will retain
the boxy, iconic styling that appeals to the masses of SUV enthusiasts, but
with contemporary elements to make it future-ready.
The new
Wrangler will be based on an aluminum-intensive body-on-frame platform to
improve its fuel efficiency. Engine lineup is reported to include a Pentastar
V6 petrol engine and a V6 turbodiesel motor. For the first time, the Wrangler
will also offer a mild hybrid variant, which will pair the I.C engine to a
48-volt electrical system.
The 2018 Jeep
Wrangler is expected to go into production from late 2017 at its home in
Toledo, Ohio. It will spawn a pick-up bodystyle too, as confirmed by FCA CEO
Sergio Marchionne.
