New BMW M760i xDrive

Launched at the LA Auto Show, the 2017 BMW M760i xDrive will command a princely US$ 153,800, plus a destination charge that should add another US$ 995 for a delivered price of US$ 154,795.

In relative terms, the M760i comes in US$ 9,100 more than a Mercedes-AMG S63, but US$ 16,950 less than the similarly V12-powered S600 or a whopping US$ 73,100 less than the AMG S65.

That makes the M760i the least expensive way to get yourself into a new twelve-cylinder sedan. Everything else from Mercedes, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Aston Martin commands upwards of US$ 200k.

The M760i is the first 7 Series with even a quasi-M Performance treatment. Like the Rolls-Royce Ghost/Wraith/Dawn, it packs a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12, in this application rated at 601 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.

Driven to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, enough to rocket this big sedan 0 to 60 mph in a quoted 3.6 seconds. But as you can see, it don't come cheap – even if it does undercut the V12-powered competition.
