WEY W01
Great Wall took
advantage of the Guangzhou Hall (Guangzhou) occasion to introduce the WEY
division to the public. Nothing to do with a fitness proposal: this is the name
of the luxury division of the manufacturer.
Developed to raise the company's
standard in terms of safety, design and technology, the new brand pays tribute
directly to CEO, Wei Jianjun, and starts operating from next year. Initially,
activities will be concentrated in China itself, with a portfolio of two SUVs.
The first, named W01, measures 4.80 meters in length
and will have models like Volkswagen Touareg, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Edge
as main rivals.
In turn, the W02 is slightly smaller (4.40 meters in all) and
will have the mission to compete with BMW X1, Volkswagen Tiguan and Jeep
Compass. Both impressed by the well-designed design and out of the
"standard cloning" so criticized and less and less common among the
Chinese.
All of them will be equipped with state-of-the-art features,
including pan-shift alert, adaptive autopilot, rearview mirror with integrated
camera and dashboard with digital elements, among others. Hybrid versions are
also in the plans.
