2017 KTM RC Cup racebike
Held in alliance with the MotoAmerica Racing Series,
the KTM RC Cup is a racing series in the United States helping promote young
talent. The Austrian company’s motorsports division has unveiled the 2017
edition of the race bike and has loaded it with enhancements to improve its
performance on track.
The bike is now suspended over fully adjustable
racing forks in the front by WP and a racing-centric rear mono shock by the
same brand with high/low speed compression and rebound damping. The bike also
gets CNC machined racing, foldable levers and racing rear sets. The body panels
have been replaced to be more track friendly. The throttle assembly borrows
inspiration from the KTM RC8. The exhaust system has been sourced from Akrapovic.
Rules do not allow any modifications to the engine
and therefore it is a sealed unit. These may be serviced only by KTM’s partner
HMC Racing. Customers can head to participating KTM dealerships and make
requests for a unit with a copy of their AMA Road Racing Superstock Limited
license or license application. The KTM RC Cup race bikes will however, not be
street legal. Modified KTM RC390 will not be allowed to participate in the race
but can take part in regional races.
HMC Racing will have a hospitality lounge for the
riders at all races, and will also service the motorcycle and sell parts. They
will also be conducting the safety check prior to the race to help MotoAmerica
regulate the validity of all race units.
The KTM RC series is for budding racers between the
age group of 14 to 22 years and several promotional offers have been announced
if one buys the bike before March 31, 2017.
