2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe (spy shot)
The upcoming 2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe is in the
final stages of its development. As the time for the official reveal
approaches, Mercedes opted to replace the traditional prototype camouflage with
a flat black wrap, giving us a proper look on the two-door version of the
E-Class.
There isn’t much left to write about Mercedes’
choice to apply the same design approach in most of its vehicles, with the
E-Class Coupe looking exactly as a smaller version of the S-Class Coupe.
The new German coupe will be
one of the most elegant and beautiful models in the segment, once it hits the
market in 2017. Under the pretty skin we’ll find all the tech that debuted in
the regular E-Class, including the semi-autonomous features, a dual-screen
layout for the dashboard and of course most of the engines that power the
four-door executive sedan.
The engine range will include both the latest
turbocharged petrol and diesel units but we’re still waiting to see if Mercedes
will offer a plug-in hybrid variant as well. There’s a lot of expectation also
on the range-topping 63 and 63S AMG models, which are going to be propelled by
the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with as much as 612PS being transmitted to all four
wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
According to the latest reports, Mercedes is going
to reveal the new 2017 E-Class Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
