2017 Shelby FP350S

The 2017 Shelby FP350S builds on the goodies bestowed upon the road-going Shelby GT350.

Designed to race, the FP350S is eligible to compete in Trans Am (TA3 and TA4 classes), NASA and SCCA racing (T1 and T2 classes). As the newest product in a long line of racers that include the Boss 302S, the brute in the adjacent photos features all the bits and bobs you would expect from a racecar.

The belly of the beast is a 5.2-liter V8 with four valves per cylinder, which sends its go-faster goodies to the rear wheels via a Tremec 3160 manual transmissions with an integral oil pump. The 3.73 final drive ratio is complemented by race-ready performance suspension, electric steering, and serious braking power.

Boasting a modified chassis with seam welding, the heat generated by the FP350S is kept in check by a performance-oriented oil cooler and oil pan. As standard, Ford Performance delivers the FP350S with a Sparco racing seat, quick-release steering wheel, and a six-point roll cage.

19 x 10.5-inch front and 19 x 11-inch rear wheels are specced from the get-go, with 18 x 11-inch forged wheels available as an option. The MOTEC data acquisition system, however, is a no-cost feature. On the design front, the big carbon fiber rear wing is the highlight, as is the carbon fiber front splitter.

The FP350S follows in the footsteps of the Shelby GT350R-C, which won the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, and the Ford Mustang GT4.
