BMW M3 Heritage Collection Singapore Edition I
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the BMW
M3 has seen numerous special editions produced in conjunction with the event. The most interesting
could actually hail from our neighbours down south in Singapore, with the very
colourful BMW M3 Heritage Collection.
The first car in the collection is the BMW M3 Heritage Collection Singapore Edition I. Inspired by the E36
M3, it hence comes in a slew of rather attractive ’90s hues, including Dakar
Yellow, Daytona Violet Metallic and British Racing Green.
These colours are also repeated inside with the
highlight trim finishers, while the carbon fibre trim is laser inscribed with
the edition name and unit number to show off just how exclusive the car is –
just 10 will be built, at an eye-watering price of S$ 408,800.
The Singapore Edition I is pretty much a
“standard” M3 with the Competition Package added on and, as such, comes with
all the bells and whistles of the latter. These include the style 666M 20-inch
star-spoke M light alloy wheel, retuned Adaptive M suspension (with new
springs, dampers and anti-roll bars), Comfort, Sport and Sport+ drive modes,
Active M differential and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).
Also bundled in the package are the High Gloss
Shadow Line exterior trim (expanded to include black kidney grilles, fender
vent accents, door mirrors, tailpipes and model badge), lightweight M sports
seats and seat belts with woven-in BMW M strips.
Under the bonnet, the 3.0 litre twin-turbo
straight-six has been breathed on to produce 19 hp more, at 450 hp and 550 Nm
of torque. Matched to a seven-speed M DCT (dual-clutch transmission), it
sprints from zero to 100 km/h in four seconds flat.
The M3 Heritage Collection
Singapore Edition I is just the first in a series of commemorative models to be
sold in the republic – the Edition II (which will take inspiration from the E46
M3) and Edition III (which will hark back to the previous E92 M3) are set to be
introduced next year.
