Suzuki Ertiga Diesel (Indonesia)
The Suzuki Ertiga will get a diesel variant in
Indonesia that will launch in early 2017. So far, a 1.4 litre petrol version is the only one available
in Indonesia, the same one exported to Malaysia as the Proton Ertiga.
The diesel engine in question is a D13A 1.3 litre
DDiS turbodiesel paired with a SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) system.
This isn’t a full-fledged hybrid system like the one offered by Toyota,
but an inexpensive mild hybrid system that has auto start-stop, regenerative
braking, a bigger battery and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) in place of
a regular alternator. The latter assists the diesel engine in acceleration.
The Ertiga Diesel with SHVS is paired to a
five-speed manual gearbox. It makes 90 PS and 200 Nm, which should translate to
significantly better performance than the petrol Ertiga. In India, the Ertiga
Diesel’s fuel consumption is rated at 24.52 km/l in the local cycle. Indonesia
will import the model CBU from India.
