Skoda has been gearing up to boost its sales in
India. The company plans to
launch multiple cars in the country along with an investment of over Rs. 100
crore to improve the after-sales service. The Czech brand’s officials had
earlier confirmed the launch of the Octavia Black Edition for India market next week.
The Skoda Octavia Black Edition belongs to
the Action Model range of the automaker. It comes with several cosmetic updates
over the standard sedan. The Octavia Black Edition model is likely to come
available in two different exterior colour options: black and white. Limited to
just 100 units, it could be sold between Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 50,000 premium over
the standard Style Plus variant.
The black paint job surely enhances the appeal of
the already sharp looking car. Additionally it features rectangular shaped fog
lamps, 18 inch ‘Turini’ black alloy wheels and sunset privacy glass. These
features simply add more intention to the model. The sharp headlamps, signature
new generation Skoda front grille with chrome trim, wide and slated air intake
make the front fascia aggressive looking.
The interior also comes with several
updates over the standard model. The Octavia Black Edition gets Bluetooth, DAB
digital radio, Amundsen satellite navigation system, rain sensors, and rear
parking sensors. Skoda also offers automatic parking assistant with the Black
Edition. Among other features it sports plush leather upholstery, special floor
mats, heated rear seats high beam control system, Intelligent Light Assistant.
The petrol Octavia Black Edition gets a 180 hp
1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch
automatic gearbox while the diesel model has a 143 hp 2.0-litre motor connected
to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Safety features such as Anti-Lock
Braking (ABS) systems, traction control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
are standard alongside parking sensors and dual-front airbags.
