Yamaha Japan is gearing up to introduce the 2017
Yamaha R1 and 2017 Yamaha R1M. The motorcycles will be available from June
2017.
Powering the 2017 Yamaha R1 is a 998 cc DOHC,

gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 200 PS of maximum power at 13,500
rpm and 112.4 Nm of peak torque at 11,500 rpm.
The Yamaha R1 tips the scales at 199 kg and gets 43
mm fully adjustable upside down forks up front and a link type monoshock. The
Yamaha R1M is powered by the same powerplant but gets a carbon fibre body and
an Ohlins racing suspension. The R1 is also the first production to get
titanium fracture-split connecting rods.
The Yamaha R1 is loaded to the gills with banking
sensitive Traction Control, as well as Slide Control, Front Lift Control,
Quickshifter, Launch Control, ABS and a Unified Brake System. It also gets a
TFT instrumentation console. The R1 is available in Deep Purpose Blue Metallic
