A report in Autocar Professional reveals that Hero
MotoCorp will launch a 125 cc automatic scooter this year. While the report
does not identify the scooter, Hero had showcased a 125 cc scooter, Hero Dare,
at the 2014 Auto Expo, which has not launched yet.
The Hero Dare is powered by a 124.6 cc forced air
cooled mill which is capable of producing 9.38 hp at 7,500 rpm and 9.8 Nm of
torque at 6,500 rpm. The scooter tips the scales at 114 kg and gets a 200 mm
disc up front with two piston calliper.
The report adds that Hero MotoCorp will be launching
the scooter by September 2017. The Hero
Dare gets features like alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and a digital
instrumentation console. The scooter can store 6 litres of petrol and a ground
clearance of 155 mm.
The Hero Dare also gets tubeless tyres, dual tone
body colours, concealed choke, LED taillamp and service due indicator. A side
stand reminder, which has been seen in a lot of Hero products, will also be
present.
Competing the likes of the Honda Activa 125 and
Suzuki Access 125, the Hero Dare will aim to attract youth with a sharp design
language.
