The German supernaked has received a host of changes for 2017, including a new, lighter chassis, revised electronics which include lean-angle-sensitive ABS and traction control, plus a bi-directional quickshifter which allows clutch-less downshifts. There is also a new exhaust system with a titanium Akrapovic can to help pass Euro4 noise and emissions regulations.

The changes amount to a 2 kg weight loss, plus a gain of 5bhp in top-end power, meaning the bike now has a claimed 165 bhp. BMW have also made efforts to reduce vibration to the bars and offer their lightweight cast ally HP wheels as an option, too.
