A member of The Automotive India has snapped the
updated MY2017 Maruti Ciaz at a NEXA outlet in Delhi. The Ciaz will be soon be
sold exclusively from Maruti’s NEXA line of dealerships, so the images suggest
that they have begun stocking up.
The updated
Ciaz for NEXA will drop the Maruti Suzuki lettering and variant badges, leaving
the Ciaz nameplate, Maruti Suzuki ‘S’ logo and the SHVS badge (if it’s the
diesel variant). The NEXA representative further divulged to the TAI member
that a few changes have been made, although he hasn’t gone into detail about
it.
This follows a leak of the Maruti Ciaz variant
lineup, which will include NEXA’s usual grades such as Sigma, Delta, Zeta and
Alpha, instead of the current model’s V(O), V+, Z, and Z+ grade hierarchy. The
sportier Ciaz RS will be marketed as the Ciaz S by NEXA. Nothing has changed to
the looks of the car.
The engine lineup retains the familiar 1.3L 4-cyl
turbodiesel DDiS 200 engine with the mild-hybrid SHVS system, and a 1.4L K14B
4-cyl N/A petrol engine with 95 PS. All 5 grades of the Maruti Ciaz come
equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 4-speed automatic
transmission exclusive to the petrol variant is optional in Delta, Zeta and Alpha
grades.
