GaadiWaadi has managed to acquire up close spyshots
of the 2017 Maruti Swift Dzire up close, revealing the Swift-inspired
exterior design. The new sedan is reported to launch in May 2017.
The image offer a first look at the front fascia of
the new Swift Dzire, which does borrow elements from the new Swift hatchback,
but has been restyled for a unique look. It features a wide grille with bold
chrome surround, 3-part intake bumper with foglamps and chrome accents, and new
swept-back projector headlamps with LED DRLs.
The rear-end was revealed in grainy images last
month, but the new spyshots give a better look at the new LED taillamps,
moulded boot spoiler, shark fin antenna, and redesigned rear bumper. It’s quite
early to judge the design, so we can’t wait to see the new Swift Dzire in its
full glory when it arrives in showrooms across India.
The engine lineup will continue offering the 1.3L
DDiS 190 4-cyl diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AGS (AMT),
which produces 75 PS and 190 Nm of peak torque, while the petrol variant will
pack the same 1.2L 4-cyl K12B petrol engine with 84 hp and 114 Nm of torque.
The model spied seems to be the top-end ‘Z’ variant
of the Swift, which is equipped with an automatic gear selector. Like the
outgoing model, the new Swift Dzire adopts a dual-tone beige and black interior
color combination which has garnished chrome, silver and, interestingly, a
generous amount of faux wood trim. Even the leather-wrapped, Swift-sourced flat
bottom steering wheel has the wood trim on the lower portion, which looks a bit
cheesy.
The Swift Dzire doesn’t get the spherical vents of
the new Swift; instead it has angular vents on the center console and either
sides of the dashboard. It also doesn’t get the Baleno’s 4.2 inch color MID or
cruise control, while the telephony buttons for the steering wheel are located
beside the horn pad. As expected, the new Swift Dzire can be equipped with
Maruti’s Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto or Apple
CarPlay.
