Another year, another special-edition version of the
Subaru WRX. This time around it’s the 2017 Subaru WRX S-Edition, a warmed-over
version of the WRX Premium with some interior and exterior enhancements that is
limited to 250 units in Australia.
The WRX S-Edition adds STI seats and interior trim
elements such as an STI gearknob (whether you choose manual or auto).
On the outside there are 18-inch BBS alloy wheels
finished in gloss black, as well as an STI strut tower brace bar, and an STI
front lip spoiler and S-Edition badge. The lot costs US$ 2350 over the regular
price for the WRX Premium (from US$ 45,140 plus on-road costs). There are no
mechanical changes to the model, meaning the existing 2.0-litre four-cylinder
‘boxer’ turbo engine goes unchanged, with 268 Hp of power and 350 Nm of torque.
The special edition model will be split between the
six-speed manual and continuously variable transmission (CVT) auto gearbox. The
2017 S-Edition version of the WRX follows on from the 2016 WRX Special Edition,
and the 2015 WRX Hyper Blue edition.
