The Audi e-tron Sportback concept has been given its
full debut ahead of the 2017 Shanghai motor show. The e-tron
Sportback will go into production in 2019. When it goes on sale, it will be the brand’s second
dedicated mass market EV after the production version of the e-tron quattro
concept, which is due to be available in major markets from 2018.
The e-tron Sportback has a drivetrain featuring one
electric motor for the front axle, and two for the rear. All up, they deliver a
total of 435 Hp of power in regular driving, with 503 Hp and 800 Nm available in
boost mode.
Audi claims that the e-tron Sportback is capable of
sprinting form 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and hitting a top speed of 210 km/h.
With its 95kWh battery pack fully charged, the e-tron Sportback is said to have
a driving range of over 500 km.
Attached to a fast charger, the e-tron Sportback’s
battery can be topped up to 80 per cent within 30 minutes. The e-tron Sportback
also supports wireless charging, and its system, Audi claims, is only 10 per
cent slower than charging through a regular cable.
The e-tron Sportback is 4.9 m long, 1.98 m wide, 1.53 m
tall, and sits on a 2.93 m wheelbase. The concept car is fitted with 23-inch
alloy wheels accompanied by 285/30 tyres. There’s also an air suspension system
with a ride height that can be varied by 63 mm, and matrix laser light
projectors for the high beam and driving lights.
On the inside, the e-tron Sportback features seating
for four people, two touchscreen OLED panels in the centre of the dashboard,
and 4G LTE internet connectivity.
