Australian pricing and specifications for the 2017
Audi TT RS range have been released, with the new two-door hero
starting from AUD 137,900 before on-road costs.
Under the bonnet is the company’s revised 2.5-litre
turbocharged five-cylinder petrol engine, pushing out 400 hp of power and 480 Nm
of torque, the latter arriving between 1700 and 5850 rpm. Drive is sent to
Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system (with rear bias) via a seven-speed
S-tronic dual-clutch transmission with launch control.
Audi claims the TT RS coupe can sprint from zero to
100 km/h in a supercar-challenging 3.7 seconds, while the roadster manages to
hit the ton from a standstill in 3.9 seconds. Top speed for both versions is
electronically-limited to 250 km/h, though it can be raised to 280 km/h “upon
request”. Fuel consumption, meanwhile, is rated at 8.4L/100km combined for the
coupe, and 8.6L/100km for the roadster.
Housing the brakes are 20-inch alloy wheels as
standard, featuring a seven-spoke rotor design available in matte titanium, silver,
or gloss black. Regardless of the wheel finish, the TT RS’s rims are shod with
255/30 ZR20 rubber all round. The TT RS aso rides 10mm lowered than the
standard range, with magnetic ride dampers also standard fit.
Standard equipment includes the company’s 12.3-inch
Virtual Cockpit digital driver’s display – which includes a special RS view –
RS sports seats with integrated head restraints, neck-heaters (roadster only),
an RS sport leather steering wheel with paddle shifters and satellite controls
for engine on/off and Audi drive select mode, MMI navigation plus with MMI
touch, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 155W nine-speaker sound system, a
sports exhaust system with black oval tailpipe trims, and a fixed rear spoiler.
As always, there are numerous cost options,
including premium paint (AUD 650-2000), a carbon engine cover (AUD 1300), extended
leather trim (AUD 450), carbon interior inlays (AUD 1700), wireless phone charger
(AUD 350), a 680W Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker sound system (AUD 1150).
There’s also three option packages, such as the
advanced lighting package (AUD 3000) which adds matrix LED headlights, OLED 3D
tail-lights and dynamic indicators all round, the RS Catalunya Red design
package (AUD 1900) which includes Catalunya Red air vent rings, red-edged seatbelts,
and RS-branded floor mats with contrasting red stitching, along with the RS
Nardo Grey design package (AUD 1900) which similarly adds Nardo Grey highlights
for the inner air vents, grey-edged seatbelts and RS floor mats with grey
stitching.
Additionally, buyers can opt for the gloss black or
matte aluminium exterior design packages, which adds different finishes for the
front spoiler, grille frame and rear wing. The matte aluminium pack also
extends the finishes to the rear spoiler and diffuser trims.
