The 2017 Mercedes-Benz V-Class range has been
bolstered with the addition of a new V220d variant, which reduces the price of
entry by over AUD 12,000 to AUD 74,990 before on-road costs.
Slotting in beneath the
top-spec V250d Avantgarde and above the more basic Valente people movers, the
V220d forgoes some of the higher specification of the V250, while also
featuring a slightly less powerful version of the 2.2-litre twin-turbo diesel
engine.
Producing 163 Hp of power and 380 Nm of torque, the
V220d is 27 Hp and 60 Nm down on its more expensive sibling, giving it the same
outputs of the lesser Valente van.
However, equipment highlights for the mid-spec
German people carrier include a 7.0-inch infotainment display with Garmin Map
Pilot navigation system, 17-inch alloy wheels, rear-view camera with dynamic
guidelines, along with the driver assistance package – which includes
autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist.
Standard features across the V-Class range include
selectable driving modes, adaptive dampers, active parking assist, Lugano
leather upholstery, ambient lighting, multifunction steering wheel with paddle
shifters, climate control, and an automatic tailgate.
