New spy pictures have been shown by Morebikes of what seems to be the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701. The motorcycle is based on the KTM 690 Duke platform. The test unit bears a single disc brake up front and gets dual channel ABS.

The Husqvarna Svartpilen test bike seems to be still not production ready and gets spoke wheels and dual-sport tyres over 17-inch wheels. The overall design philosophy resembles the production ready Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 showcased at EICMA 2016.

Expected to take on the Ducati Scrambler range, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 gets a handlebar instead of clip-ons and a more upright position for the instrumentation. The test model’s exhaust canister continues to have the same shape as the concept Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 showcased at EICMA 2015.

The 690 cc LC4 single cylinder thumper in the KTM 690 Duke is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The fuel injected mill gets a slipper clutch and is capable of producing 73 hp of maximum power and 74 Nm of peak torque. Just like the new 690 Duke, the Svartplien 701’s mill is expected to have two counterbalancers to reduce vibrations.

The production version of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 can be expected at the EICMA 2017 that opens on November 7.
