The Isuzu MU-X is based on the Chevrolet Trailblazer and is the successor to the Isuzu MU-7. The ladder-frame SUV measures 4,825 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,840 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. It’s powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 177 PS at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque between 1,800 rpm and 2,800 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Isuzu will offer a four-wheel drive system optionally in the Indian-spec version. The fuel economy of the SUV is rated at 13.8 km/l for the 4×2 AT model.

LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, dual-tone ivory-grey interior, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seats, 6-way power adjustment for the driver seat, 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system and roof-mounted 10-inch DVD system are the equipment highlights of the 7-seat SUV.

The Isuzu MU-X will compete with the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, and likely start well below INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
