The facelifted DS 5 has finally arrived in Malaysia. The new name is accompanied by some new styling as
well, with the most prominent being that of the vehicle’s exterior.
At the front, there’s a brand-new grille with chrome
DS “wings” that flow seamlessly into the xenon headlights. Said headlights are
of the same shape as before, but now come with new internal graphics and LED
light signature. A new wheel design is also present here, which continue to
retain their 18-inch size.
The DS 5 looks largely unchanged
from before, save for the interior, which now gains a new Touchdrive
touchscreen infotainment system. Providing access to all in-car functions such
as navigation, media playback and even smartphone screen mirroring, the system
is linked to a Denon audio system.
Other items in the equipment list include a
dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system, keyless entry and start,
electrically-adjustable front seats, automatic headlights and wipers, front and
rear parking sensors, head-up display, rear air-con vents, electric sunshades,
as well as leather upholstery.
The customers will get to choose from
two colours – Basalt Black and Sand Beige. On that mention, the exterior of the
DS 5 can be had in either Artense Grey, Noir Perla Nera, Bleu Encre, Pearl
White or Whisper Purple.
Under the hood, there is a 1.6 litre THP 165 petrol
engine with 163 hp and 240 Nm, which is mated to an updated six-speed automatic
transmission. DS claims a fuel consumption over a combined cycle of 5.9 litres
per 100 km, while CO2 emissions is rated at 135 g per km.
Safety wise, the DS 5 comes equipped with six
airbags (dual front, side, curtain) and blind spot monitoring system. The
latter is a new addition, and joins the existing electronic stability program
(ESP), anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency brake assist (EBA), electronic
brake distribution (EBD) and dynamic stability control (DSC). Isofix child seat
anchors for the rear seats are also standard here.
In terms of pricing, the DS 5 retails for RM 198,888
on-the-road with insurance, and includes a five-year/120,000 km Peace of Mind
warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance service, plus exclusive access to the Sky
Lounge by Naza at Subang Airport.
