The 2017 Toyota 86 limited edition has been
revealed, bringing a bright new orange exterior paint, upgraded mechanicals and
new interior trims. Limited to just 60 units in Australia, the special 86 is
based on the top spec GTS manual and is priced from AUD 41,490 before on-road costs, representing an increase of AUD 4550 over the base
car.
Solar Orange metallic exterior paint distinguishes
the limited-run model from its more regular siblings, along with a metallic
black rear spoiler and door mirrors.
Filling the wheel arches are 17-inch 10-spoke alloy
wheels finished in anthracite, housing uprated Brembo ventilated brake discs,
measuring 326mm at the front and 316mm at the rear – up from 294mm and 290mm
respectively. The mechanical upgrades are completed by special Sachs
performance dampers for “enhanced stability”.
Inside, the 86 limited edition gets leather-accented
front sports seats with perforated Alcantara inserts and contrasting orange
stitching. This trim also extends to the steering wheel, door trims, gear knob
and handbrake. Adorning the dashboard is a suede-like ‘Grandlux’ material, embossed with an orange-coloured 86 logo.
Under the bonnet is the
same 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated boxer engine, developing 205 hp at 7000 rpm
and 212 Nm at 6400 rpm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels solely by a six-speed
manual for the limited edition.
Standard equipment carried over from the GTS base
car includes keyless entry and start, a 4.2-inch multifunction driver’s
display, a 6.1-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation and Toyota
Link2 connected apps, along with dual-zone climate control.
